8 Months Inside New York’s Migrant Shelters: Fear, Joy and Hope

October 20, 2024-Just across the East River from Manhattan, Football field sized tent dormitories were built on athletic fields to house as many as 3,000 migrants. The mega-shelter houses adult migrants sleeping in endless rows of cots, as if they had just been displaced by a natural disaster.
